New York University Programmer/Analyst New York Universityıs Division of the Libraries seeks a Programmer/Analyst to work on the Preserving Public Television NDIIPP project: http://www.ptvdigitalarchive.org <http://www.ptvdigitalarchive.org> Partners in the project to preserve digital public television (Channel Thirteen, WGBH Boston, PBS, and NYU) are collaborating to establish the first procedures, structures, and national standards necessary to preserve public television programs produced in digital formats, including the high-definition formats. The programmer/analyst will work with project partners to continue the development of models for preserving digital content, to create a functional framework for such a repository, and to test the functionality of this repository model. NYU has recently deployed and continues to develop a DSpace-based preservation repository; this project will contribute to the continued development of the repository and extend its functionality with the use of Storage Resource Broker (SRB) for storage management and the transfer of very large files. This is a grant-funded position and is available for 1 year. Candidates should have the following skills: * Bachelor's degree in computer or information science and 3 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination * Must include experience developing applications using Java * Must include experience with relational database management systems (RDBMS) and digital repositories (DSpace preferred) * Demonstrated knowledge of Apache, Tomcat, Java, SQL, XML, XSLT, a scripting language (Perl, Ruby, etc) * Experience with digitization projects involving library and digital library metadata and standards (E.g.
