Hi guys, Index Data is one of the oldest software companies working within an open source distribution model in the library sector -- we started doing it a *long* time before it became cool. For the past 14 years, we've been able to do exciting and cutting edge projects, often international in scope, involving information retrieval and management applications based on our own software, and sometimes playing a leading role in the evolution of standards and technologies in the sector. Our business model is based on the proposition that if you give to your community, the community inevitably finds ways to give back. And, we try to always have fun while delivering exciting, empowering solutions to our customers. We try to spot areas where reusable, modular technology can be deployed to bridge gaps between systems and cultures. Disruption through software excites us; finding new ways to make structured information flow and work for people. The company is international in scope, with locations in Copenhagen, the UK and the US. We can offer talented programmers a chance to be a part of a small team of devoted developers who love to deliver innovative solutions based on open standards and open source software. We're looking for someone with a solid theoretical and practical background in software development who is not devoted to any one platform and who thrives on continual learning. Our primary environments at the moment include Ajax (HTML/CSS/JS), Java, C/C++, and PHP. XML and related technologies are important, and knowledge of such library-related standards as MARC, MARCXML, Z39.50/SRU, OAI, etc. is a plus but not essential -- you'll be knee deep into all these things in pretty short order. Our main focus will be on core, technical skills and experience. You need to be able and willing to commute to New England, and/or Copenhagen, Denmark, and/or Montreal, Canada as often as once a month, or as conditions warrant, and otherwise be happy working on your own. We network extensively on a daily basis using Skype, Email, and phone between our five locations in the US and Europe and with customers. We try to get everybody together for a Christmas party in Copenhagen once a year. You need to be disciplined, self-motivating, a quick study but not afraid to ask questions. It's a plus if you think it's neat to work in a company small enough that you can help shape our future. If you don't, you probably would not be happy with us. The salary is competitive, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
