Applications Developer (temporary for 4 months) Job ID: 2010-5917 Type: Hourly Department: Strategy Office Apply online at http://jobs-nypl.icims.com/jobs/5917/job General Description: Under the direction of the Digital Producer, Strategic Planning, will develop a summer reading website that will combine gaming and social networking functions for participants in the summer reading programs of New York City's public libraries (including New York Public Library, Queens Public Library and Brooklyn Public Library). The site will launch in spring 2010. (See foursquare.com for an example of comparable functionality). Integrate the site with the worldcat.org API to enable display and sharing of materials between users. Performs related duties as required. Eligibility Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated experience working with content management systems and interactive sites, including familiarity with database programming, user accounts and sessions. Significant experience in Drupal/PHP development. Substantially demonstrated experience with Drupal modules, ability to modify/extend where required, and create custom Drupal themes based on supplied designs. Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, inlcuding demonstrated ability to work well collaboratively or independantly. Ability to take initiative and meet deadlines. Experience with developing/extending Drupal as a SNS (Social Networking Site) / Community Portal, integrating UGC, and quality design/aesthetics/usability preferred. Mark A.
