Consulting Systems Librarian
Description of Project:  5-8 hours, may be extended. The purpose of this work will be an initial exploration into possible methods of enhancing the presentation and functionality of the New York Academy of Medicine Library's Grey Literature Report (http://www.nyam.org/library/pages/grey_literature_report). In-depth interviews with the Grey Literature Report Team as well as an examination of the team's workflow and current technologies will be necessary. The outcome should be a written recommendation for a development strategy, including a recommendation for the qualifications of the future developer.

Qualifications:

*         Good oral and written communication skills, attention to detail

*         Working knowledge of Integrated Library Systems

*         Working knowledge of current cataloging and metadata practices and standards

*         Working knowledge of Z39.50, MARC, MARCXML, MySQL, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and at least two server scripting languages and their applications

*         Knowledge of AJAX and its applications preferred

*         Knowledge of Java and its applications or other object-oriented programming language preferred

*         Knowledge of Google Analytics scripts and RSS preferred

*         Experience developing/implementing web applications and databases preferred

*         Knowledge of current trends in mobile applications or interfaces for libraries preferred
