Owen, It is probably worth looking at the work of ILS Interoperability group which is has adopted the XC NCIP Toolkit to try to provide access to ILS data like Availability. The group is very active right now and trying to get people to build connectors for the toolkit and improve existing code. If you are dealing with ALEPH I believe there is a connector for ALEPH in the current version of the XC NCIP toolkit.
