The Five Colleges of Ohio seeks applications for a two year, half time
position of Mellon Digital Initiatives Interface Specialist. The interface
specialist will developing a collaborative infrastructure for the
consortium's growing digital collections as part of the Next-Generation
Library project supported by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. To read about

office for the position could be at any of the consortial colleges.

The Interface Specialist will:
* Work closely with the NGL Digital Initiatives Coordinator and the NGL
Technical Infrastructure Committee to develop interface enhancements for the
DSpace open source repository, integrating a wide array of web-based tools
that respond to the needs of students and faculty to interface with digital
collections being developed in the grant project.
* Help develop a NGL project web space to facilitate staff communication,
project documentation, and training, and serve as a public portal to
showcase digital collections, project best practices, and pedagogical
applications utilizing the collections.
* Collaborate as needed with staff at the Five Colleges of Ohio, OhioLINK,
and OhioLINK institutions to develop solutions that may be made available to
all DSpace and OhioLINK institutions.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in computer science or an equivalent level of education
plus experience working in an Unix/Linux environment with open source
software. Strong experience with XHTML/CSS site design, knowledge and
experience in metadata creation and manipulation techniques using XML and
XSLT, knowledge of metadata harvesting concepts, demonstrated ability to
communicate effectively both orally and in writing, and a positive record of
working well with others.
