PROGRAM DESCRIPTON:
Online publication and the potential role of university libraries in that process is a recent development and an ongoing challenge. The UCLA Encyclopedia of Egyptology is a digitally born publication in two versions. The UEE Open Version is published through eScholarship, a platform of the University of California: http://escholarship.org/ The UEE Full Version is a much more interactive web page which enables map searches, shows the ontology, and enables annotations, to name just a few of the "advanced" aspects. All of the assets are stored in the UCLA Digital Library and are drawn on the fly into the web interface. The UEE Open Version has not yet been made available, because of an ongoing discussion with several academic publishers on generating sufficient income to sustain a continuous process of updating through a subscription model. The presentation will discuss the actions, the workflow, and the different financial models.

Best,
                Esther
