Oracle PASIG User Group Meeting - Redwood Shores, May 10-12, 2011 - Register Now!
I. Status
The latest agenda for the Oracle PASIG User Group Meeting is below. We have almost 50 confirmed speakers and registrants.
As stated in previous emails, the registration URL is: http://events.ioug.org/e/in/eid=10. The attendee cost for this event is $325. This will be the first meeting of the PASIG as an Independent Oracle User Group. If you want to have an impact on directions, this would be an important meeting to make your voice heard.
We just had a very successful Oracle-sponsored, public sector-focused event at the British Library (Thanks Richard Boulderstone and team!) with about 130+ actual attendees. We received great feedback as we move into this cross-industry event at Oracle in May. It was very evident that Oracle executives, product managers, and technologists really appreciate the close interaction and advice the PASIG members can provide around Repositories, Data Curation, and Preservation, which are relatively new areas of focus for Oracle.
Please note that while we have almost 50 committed attendees and just had a successful event in London, we are actually way behind our normal PASIG registration rate with only one month to the event. If we can get a boost in registrations in the next several days, the International Oracle User Group (IOUG) might still be able to negotiate beneficial hotel rates. In any case, if you intend to come, please register asap! Local hotels include the Summerfield Suites and Sofitel in Redwood City and Marriott Hotel in San Mateo. II. Meeting Flow
Day 1 - I will moderate Day 1 which is focused on Oracle technology and vertical markets related to digital preservation, content, and access. This is an optional section of the program, though we saw in the recent London event that many attendees appreciated both the Oracle updates and 1-1 discussions.
Day 2 - The formal kick-off will be Wednesday morning. The meeting will be moderated by Mike Keller. Wednesday's meeting will be focused on project architectures and best practices. There is a reception at the Convention Center after the day's proceedings.
Day 3 - We will continue with the focus on architectures and best practices as they pertain to vertical markets including Higher Education, Libraries, Research, Data Curation, Healthcare, Government, and Media and Broadcasting.
The last part of the day will be for attendee-driven topical break outs and open discussion on PASIG directions.
