Hello all. First off, this is a reminder that our next NDSA Standards Working Group call is on Monday, June 6 at 1:00 EST. The WebEx connection information will be at the end of this email.

Andrea and I talked yesterday and we'd like to do this next meeting a little differently. We'd like to spend less time talking about the survey project and more time talking about the direction of the group. We thought it would be a good idea to make sure that everyone feels engaged in the work that the group is doing and that people feel like they have a voice in guiding the group and its work. We've been working so far on the standards survey but we want to make sure that everyone understands that this group is open to multiple projects and no one should feel bound to any one project. To this end I think everyone should return to the IdeaScale space (http://ndsa.ideascale.com/) and see if there's something else we can work on concurrent to the survey. And if nothing on the IdeaScale space floats your boat we can talk about other ideas as well. We'll talk about other ideas during our phone call but everyone should feel welcome to submit ideas on the IdeaScale or on this list.

We'll also talk about the upcoming NDIIPP Partners' Meeting in DC that will be July 19-21. We'd like to get a rough head count of everyone who's coming and see if people would like to go out as a group to happy hour/dinner on Wednesday the 20th. I've put a page on the wiki (scroll down to the bottom of the Standards home page for a link) so everyone - whether you're on next week's call or not - can put your name down if you're coming. I think this will be a good time to socialize and get to know each other face-to-face.

We'd also like to talk about the entry template for our survey. Our concern is that the solution we have now - Google Docs - is not real user-friendly and we'd like to talk about how to make the work of entering information easier.

And last we'd like to check and make sure our usual meeting time - the first Monday of every month at 1 EST - is still good for everyone.

So that is roughly what we'd like to talk about next week. If I've left anything out then I'm sure Andrea will chime in. I'm looking forward to talking with all of you. And for those of you who can't make the call, please feel free to address the above issues with emails to either this listserv or to Andrea and I.

I'll talk with you next week and I'm sure I'll see many of you in person in July!
