Unfortunately, I have another conflicting meeting that I can't reschedule. I'll do my best to read any minutes and volunteer for any necessary activities.

Subject: [NDSA-STANDARDS] NDSA Standards Working Group Meeting Monday 9/12

Hello all. This Monday (9/12) at 1:00 Eastern is our next NDSA Standards Working Group meeting. I hope you can all attend because I think it will prove to be a very interesting meeting. We'll be revisiting the standards survey project with a mind to redesign it a bit. The attached document from Andrea lays out where we are with the survey as well as some proposals for how we can proceed. The most notable part of this document is a discussion of how we could use Wikipedia to help us rethink the logistics of the project and move it forward in a new and - we hope - easier way. Much of this information comes from email conversations Andrea and I had with Sarah Stierch who is, among other things, the Wikipedian-in-Residence for the Smithsonian's Archives of American Art. My colleage here at LC, Trevor Owens, put us in touch with Sarah and she's given us some great ideas about how to leverage Wikipedia's content and infrastructure for our survey project. Sarah has very graciously agreed to join us at our WebEx meeting on Monday. Andrea plans to go through the attached document and Sarah will fill in gaps and expound upon some of the Wikipedia-related information. I think this could really make our lives easier and could probably also get more exposure for our work.

NOTE ABOUT THE WEBEX - Since this past Monday was a holiday I had to set up a new WebEx session. The connection information (found below) is likely different from past WebEx sessions we've had so you definitely want to use the info in this email to connect.

I'm looking forward to talking with you all on Monday! I plan to record the session - as usual - for those who are unable to attend.

Best,

Jimi
