Hi Jimi and all,

I can't attend tomorrow's meeting, but will work on the staffing survey
questions and email any ideas to the group prior to the call.

Best,

Subject: [NDSA-STANDARDS] NDSA Standards WebEx on Wednesday, February 22!

Hello everyone! This email is a reminder of our NDSA Standards working group
meeting tomorrow. It will be a WebEx (connection info at the end of this
email) at 3:00 EST tomorrow (Wednesday the 22nd).

I'd like to start rotating note taking duties. Who among you would like to
be our first non-chair note taker tomorrow? Feel free to speak up here if
you'd like. If no one pipes up then we'll figure it out at the beginning of
our meeting.

Speaking of our meeting, there are a couple things we'd like to talk about.
In keeping with our new emphasis on working meetings, I think we should work
on revising the questions in our digital preservation staffing survey (the
questions are here:
http://www.loc.gov/extranet/wiki/osi/ndiip/ndsa/index.php?title=Staffing_survey_planning_page). A
number of the questions are free-text. One of the things I'd like to work on
is turning those into multiple-choice where possible. We should also add
more questions and excise or edit existing questions as y'all see fit. We
only have an hour tomorrow so please look at the questions prior to meeting
so we can dive right in and make the most of our time. I recommend looking
at the use cases on the above wiki page as well. We'll take a minute and
look at those tomorrow as well.

As for the ongoing standards survey, I know that Stephen and some of the
other members of the group have been working on revising the Wikipedia page
for digital preservation
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_preservation). We'll take a tour
through that page and see what's been done on it.

And last but not least I'd like to take a couple minutes and talk about the
timeline for our staffing survey. I'd love to see it sent out this spring so
that the results can be back and interpreted in time for our July NDIIPP
meeting. Does this sound too optimistic? Let's talk about how to make that
happen tomorrow as well.

Looking forward to speaking with you all,

Jimi
