The research group IKM (www.ikmresearch.de, guided by associate professor Dr. Matthias Trier, Copenhagen Business School) at the institute of Wirtschaftsinformatik at Berlin Institute of Technology (Prof. Dr. Krallmann, sysedv.tu-berlin.de) offers a pre-doc assistant position in the EU-funded project BlogForever (blogforever.eu). BlogForever is a collaborative EU-funded project. Its key objective is to develop robust digital preservation, management and dissemination facilities for weblogs. These facilities will be able to capture the dynamic and continuously evolving nature of weblogs, their network and social structure, and the exchange of concepts and ideas that they foster; pieces of information omitted by current Web Archiving methods and solutions. The candidate(s) will research in an interdisciplinary team. Research topics comprise the fields of digital repositories, ontology development, network analysis, social media preservation, and exploratory search access. Thereby, the inquiry of online networks with network analysis methods (see also www.commetrix.de) takes a prominent role. Applicants are required to have: * a masters degree in computer science or information systems * a good command of English, * good programming skills (Java, DB, internet technologies), * knowledge about ontologies (XML, RDF, and OWL), * knowledge about network analysis and visualisation, * a commitment to work in an international team. The contract is limited in time for a maximum of 12 months. The position is a fully salaried position, according to the national German collective agreement (13 TV-L). The salary is currently starting with per month app. 3,017 up to 3,880 (before tax) depending on seniority. The closing date for applications is 22 March 2012.
