The NDSA Innovation Working Group recently announced the establishment of the NDSA Innovation Awards. The Innovation Awards were established to recognize and encourage innovation in the field of digital stewardship.

These awards focus on recognizing excellence in the following areas:

* Individuals making a significant, innovative contribution to the digital preservation community.

* Projects whose goals or outcomes represent an inventive, meaningful addition to the understanding or processes required for successful, sustainable digital stewardship.

* Organizations taking an innovative approach to providing support and guidance to the digital preservation community.

* Future stewards, especially students, but including educators, trainers, or curricular programs taking a creative approach to advancing knowledge of digital preservation issues and practices.

Nominations are now being accepted and you can submit a nomination via this online submission form: http://www.digitalpreservation.gov/ndsa/awards.html

We encourage all NDSA members both to submit nominations and to promote the awards throughout the community to help us recognize innovative work. Eligibility has purposely been broadly defined. A recent blog post on the NDIIPP blog offers more details: http://blogs.loc.gov/digitalpreservation/2012/03/announcing-the-ndsa-innovation-awards/

The Awards will be handed out at the NDSA/NDIIPP Partners meeting at the Library of Congress in Washington D.C. on July 24-26 2012. Travel costs will be covered for recipients to attend the meeting and winners will be asked to deliver a brief presentation about their activities as part of the awards ceremony. Nominations will be accepted until May 18, 2012 and the award winners will be announced May 31, 2012.

Thanks,
Jefferson
