Hello,

In today's Infrastructure call Karen mentioned the digital preservation staffing survey that the Standards & Practices group has been working on. It's true that infrastructure includes organizational structures even though we tend to think of technical elements when we think of infrastructure.

Here's a summary of what the survey asks in 3 sections:
Section 1 (Context) - information to be able to compare/filter responses (type of organization, geographic location, amount of content preserving, expected growth rate, type of content preserving, participation in cooperative digital preservation efforts)

Section 2 (Heart of the survey) - information about their digital preservation program (functions considered in scope/out of scope, functions implemented in-house and outsourced, functions they'd like to outsource, presence of a dedicated digital preservation department, departments that lead digital preservation, current and ideal FTE in various positions, satisfaction with staffing and organization, how digital preservation staff are acquired, perceived importance of various skills and experience for digital preservation)

Section 3 (Additional information) - organizational charts/position descriptions to share, contact information

You will start to see emails announcing this survey next month but if you would like to see a test version in advance you can access it here:

There are 2 required questions (Q2 & Q4) so you will have to fill something in for those two questions to be able to advance the pages.
