Many moons ago (longer than I care to admit) I did a bit of work setting up an RSS harvester/dashboard for myself. The engine taht I used was Magpie (http://magpierss.sourceforge.net/) at the time. Magpie was (is?) used as the RSS reader/parser for Wordpress, so is pretty stable and robust.
