Level 4 Salary: £29,249-£35,938 Full time, Permanent An opportunity has arisen for a Projects Officer (Systems Development) working within the Library & Learning Support Services department of the University of Surrey. You will be responsible for the development and efficient running of a number of IT systems which are core to the management and discovery of academic information online. These include the Serials Solutions 360 suite of products for the management of e-resources, the Summon webscale discovery service, Symplectic Elements publications database and Eprints open access repository. You will have the opportunity to develop innovative ways of integrating these products with other university and library systems, ranging from the Virtual Learning Environment to the Library Management System. Educated to degree level or equivalent, you will be a flexible team worker with good communication skills and ability to work with limited supervision. You will have experience of managing projects which involve the upgrade, migration or major development of software or information systems, and be able to demonstrate evidence of ability to develop web-based applications using ASP, PHP and/or JavaScript. A working understanding of SAML (Secure Assertion Markup Language) and an interest in open access repository developments would be an advantage. LLSS operates on the basis of an annualised hours flexible working scheme. The post holder would be expected to work on week days between 8.30am and 5.30pm, with a regular pattern of hours to be agreed at appointment.
