The Libraries’ Information Technology department serves as the focal point for planning, managing and coordinating computer based information resources that support library operations. The Libraries’ Information Technology department manages servers that support 800 workstations used by 270 staff with over 6 million on-site and virtual visitors a year to the Libraries.



As a member of the Digital Development unit, this employee performs duties related to the creation and support of software applications for Digital Services and develops both web and desktop software applications. This includes software to assist in internal business operations and to assist our patrons to make full use of library resources. This employee gathers requirements, develops applications, and provides support for digital services and applications.



Job Duties:

Perform analysis and programming to develop, document, and maintain computer software programs as needed by Digital Services and other library units as appropriate. The primary emphasis will be on web and database systems which effectively deliver digital resources, track resource usage during digitization, and facilitate the compilation of analytical data (collection profiles and management information).



Design, implement and maintain all relational database components (tables, SQL stored procedures, etc.) necessary for effective data presentation and with respect to product tracking and system security.



Monitor and advise on quality control for data, meta-data and indexing with regard to Digital Services data workflow. Provide staff training when required.



Liaise between Digital Services, state entities, and external partners. Coordinate on delivery interfaces which meet the needs of the various organizations with regard to available technologies and research.
