*Contract Programmer/Software Developer * Fix bugs and develop custom Perl software for the Evergreen Integrated Library System, an open source project, at C/W MARS, a non-profit library cooperative in Worcester, MA, serving libraries throughout central and western Massachusetts. B.S. in computer science or a related field and a minimum two years experience developing large projects using Perl, SQL and XML/XHTML in a Linux-based, database-driven (Postgres) web environment in a commercial setting is desired. Strong troubleshooting, debugging and analysis skills required. Experience using Git a must and with Template Toolkit and XULRunner a plus. Familiarity with CSS/ JavaScript and libraries desirable. Strong oral and written communications skills required, along with good interpersonal skills. Position also requires interaction and collaboration with the Evergreen developer community across the U.S. and in Canada. Must be fluent in English. Flexible schedule; approximately 35 hrs. per week. Assignment runs approximately 10 months, with the possibility of transitioning to permanent staff. $35-40 per hour DOE.
