Under the general supervision of the Director, with autonomy in dailydecision-making and prioritization, the Curator of Biodiversity Data (Sr.Museum Scientist) has primary responsibility for all aspects ofcollections data management, and supports all biodiversity informaticsefforts in the herbaria. **Responsibilities** Data Collections Management * Troubleshoot, assist collections management staff with use of theCollectionSpace (C-Space) software, and give feedback to developers of thesoftware. * Configure/clean outside data for local use/import into C-Space(e.g., spreadsheets/files of specimen data from collectors). * Enter batch annotations for curators. * Enter batch coordinates from georeferencing. * Enter modifications resulting from comments submitted to the Consortium ofCalifornia Herbaria (CCH): analyze comments, find specimens as necessary. * Extract data from C-Space for CCH. * Curate UC/JEPS specimen data (investigate and correct discrepancies,anomalies, etc. as they become evident). * Answer questions about specimens to which data pertains. * Assist with the preparation of digitization grants. Web Support and Development * Serve as herbarium webmaster, update web pages (e.g., news, workshops,people pages, posting/correction of pages made by students/postdocs) andrelated project web pages (e.g., Bryolab, Moorea). * Manage web displays (e.g., types pages, image lists), including theC-Space public display as it develops. Computer Support * Oversee herbarium hardware and software needs and assist staff withvproblems and required upgrades. * Serve as the campus security contact. * Support for biodiversity informatics (e.g., Jepson Flora Project and the * Consortium of California Herbaria) * Maintain, update, and troubleshoot for all current (e.g., JepsonInterchange, Jepson eFlora) and future informatics projects (e.g., mossflora of California, seaweed flora of California). * Incorporate new data and resources as available (web based keys, verifiedphotographs, abbreviated taxon descriptions). * Respond to internal and external data requests (one-time requests;construction, maintenance of feeds for collaborators). * Respond to user questions resulting from data display. * Maintain the CCH: * Continue to upload new specimen records. * Notify CCH curators of comments, new coordinate data. * Supervise georeferencing staff. * Work with IT research position, Director, and partnerinstitutions to further enhance the CCH.
