Systems and Emerging Technologies Librarian

Rank: Senior Assistant or Associate Librarian Salary: Minimum salary of
$57,084 for Senior

This is a 12-month tenure-track position. Assistant or $65,628 for Associate
Librarian, and an excellent benefits package. Salary and rank are dependent on
qualifications and experience.

  
Qualifications:

  
Required qualifications:

Master's degree from an ALA-accredited Library/Information Science program or
its equivalent degree if earned from outside the U.S. or Canada. Two years of
experience managing an integrated library system. Experience with link
resolvers and e-resources management systems. Experience with OCLC and
document delivery systems (Illiad preferred). Experience with programming
languages (XHTML/CSS, PHP, XML, JavaScript, or another programming language).
Experience in database design and management. Knowledge of MARC 21 format and
ability to analyze MARC-related display and functionality problems.
Familiarity with authentication systems in libraries. Knowledge of current
trends and issues in library systems and in information technology.
Demonstrated skills in managing systems. Strong leadership abilities, skill in
managing projects, working with teams, providing application training and
liaising with vendors. Effective communication, interpersonal, organizational,
analytical, and problem-solving skills. Ability and commitment to working with
a diverse campus community. Capability and commitment to engage in research
and continued professional development worthy of promotion and tenure as a
faculty member in the California State University system.

  
Preferred qualifications:

Three years of professional experience in an academic library. Experience
managing Innovative Interfaces Inc. Integrated Library System (Millennium).
In-depth knowledge of MARC 21 format and Dublin Core metadata scheme.
Familiarity with cataloging and metadata standards, formats and best
practices. Experience with digital repositories (CONTENTdm, DSpace, etc.).
Experience with implementation of a discovery system and integration of
library technology into Learning Management Systems (such as Moodle).
Experience and skills developing systems. Experience with providing reference
service, library instruction, and training. Work in collaboration with the
Director of Library Information Technology to provide support to the Library
systems and technologies.

Responsibilities:

The Oviatt Library is seeking an enthusiastic candidate to join our innovative
Library systems and technology team. In a team environment, the successful
candidate will be responsible for managing and supporting the Library's III
Millennium Integrated Library System (ILS); providing analysis of MARC and
other metadata to facilitate import, export, and interoperability with other
systems; guiding the creative integration of the ILS and future discovery
systems with the Library's website, databases, OpenURL link resolver (SFX),
campus systems and LMS Moodle; collaborating with the Library Systems Group,
campus technology departments, staff, librarians and teaching faculty to
design, promote and improve on-line access and integration of electronic
resources with other library resources; initiating both the implementation and
the awareness of new features that will enhance user success in finding and
using digital content; promoting a broad understanding of current standards,
issues, trends and real-world implementations of electronic resources
management systems; and serving on Library, campus, regional and national
organizations and initiatives
