Graduation from a four-year college or university and one year of experience
in a library or archives and/or records management; or high school and five
years of experience in a library or archives and/or records management; or
equivalent combination of training and experience.

Degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prefer advanced degree or coursework in library science, public history, or
archival studies; knowledge of Appalachia, religious history, and/or regional
music traditions; experience processing collections and writing finding aids;
and familiarity with Archivists' Toolkit and DACS and EAD standards. Must be
organized, able to set priorities, and work well both independently and as a
team. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
needed.

  
Brief Description of Work for this Position:

This is a full-time, time limited position funded by a grant, which begins
October 1, 2012 and ends September 30, 2014. Vacation leave acquired during
the project must be used prior to ending of contract period, September 30,
2014. Position is journey level archival work requiring the application of
archival techniques of processing, arrangement, and description. Employee is
responsible for the arrangement and description of historical records and the
preparation of written finding aids. The employee will process materials from
the W.L. Eury Appalachian Collection's backlog and more fully describe
selected processed collections as well as contribute updates about the project
to the University Library's blog and through other means.

Physical Demands of Position: Position is primarily a desk job; employee will
