Union Institute & University, a national university for adult students
offering programs of study leading to bachelor's, master's and doctoral
degrees is seeking an experienced individual for a combination
Systems/Reference Librarian position at its Cincinnati, OH headquarters.

  
Primary responsibilities include:

  * Management and maintenance of library automation technologies including proxy server, EOS integrated library system, research database web links, link resolver tools, ILLIAD, and other electronic resources and utilities
  * Serve as the primary library technical support contact for externally hosted research database and other library vendor electronic resources, online subscriptions, and utilities
  * Design and maintain the library website and troubleshoot library software and network/server problems
  * Work to bring new technologies to library staff and users and provide training in same
  * Sharing in the provision of library reference and instructional services
  * Serving on appropriate university committees/task forces
  * Assisting in collection development efforts
Requirements:

  * An ALA-accredited Masters in Library Science degree
  * Several years professional experience in library systems and automation technologies, preferably in a college or university setting
  * Excellent library technology knowledge and skills including, but not limited to, strong familiarity with current information/library technology systems software and instructional support applications, proxy server software, link resolver and other web-based library applications, online database searching, design of instructional support materials
  * Excellent organizational, analytical, problem solving, interpersonal, and communication skills, and a commitment to the principles and practices of online pedagogy and information literacy
  * Ability to work with diverse student, faculty and staff
  * Excellent research, teaching, presentation, and communication skills
  * Experience in, and preference for, working in an online academic library environment
  * Demonstrated ability to work independently
  * Ability to travel to UI&U academic centers as necessary
