The successful applicant will investigate the policy, environment, attitudes, use and successes of software across a wide range of research disciplines; determine effective ways of disseminating the results of these investigations; and then prepare communications for websites, social media, press and printed materials. The position requires a person with excellent communication skills, an ability to quickly understand issues from a wide range of disciplines and a passion for making complex issues understandable. The successful applicant will be a lateral thinker who will relish working in an environment where their novel ideas will be implemented. The Software Sustainability Institute is a national facility for cultivating world-class research through software. The Institute is based at the universities of Edinburgh, Manchester, Oxford and Southampton. It is a cross- disciplinary organisation that has worked with research fields as diverse as climate change and nuclear fusion.
