Ontario's college libraries are embarking on a project to explore and analyze
the potential cost savings and value of developing a province-wide, collective
eBook Consortium. This is an exciting project that has the support of the
College Presidents and the support and involvement of the college
libraries. A project plan with timelines, milestones and
deliverables is in place. Reporting to the Project Steering Committee (PSC)
and to OCLS, the Project Manager would be responsible for all aspects of the
successful management and execution of the project.

  
Key Responsibilities

  
The project manager's key areas of responsibility and accountability are:
Progress and financial reporting and cost accounting to the Project Steering
Committee (PSC) and other stakeholders as per the project plan, establishing
the project management office, managing the project budget, executing the
project plan, and meeting the timeline(s) for project deliverables, including
the development of a business case and funding proposal for the implementation
of a college wide eBook Consortium with clearly identified cost savings and
ROI. Gathering, analyzing, reporting on key financial, cost savings, ROI data
and task force findings to determine cost saving methodologies and potential
business models for presentation to stakeholders.

  
Relationship management and communication with project stakeholders,
facilitating task force work, collaborating with related organizations and
other partners and staying current with trends and developments in ebook
selection, acquisition, discovery, delivery and use.

  
Desired Education/Qualifications

  
• MBA, CMA or equivalent financial management and cost accounting
qualifications, and/or;

• PMP designation or equivalent with proven project management expertise and
experience with projects of a similar magnitude;

• MLS, MLIS or equivalent library experience desired but not required.

  
Desired Skills/Experience/ Key Competencies

• Proven business, financial management and cost accounting expertise and
experience;

• Demonstrated ability to successfully manage project timelines, meet
deliverable and reporting deadlines, prioritize work, and successfully
communicate and engage stakeholders and working groups in a collaborative
environment;

• Previous experience managing government funded projects;

• Demonstrated team/task force management and leadership skills;

• Strong negotiating skills and demonstrated ability to work with vendors and
suppliers to achieve value and meet service delivery objectives;

• Understanding of and experience with the implications of licensing
agreements and copyright on ebooks in a collaborative academic library
environment;

• Knowledge of new and emerging technology, information delivery platforms and
their application for resource discovery, delivery and use in a collaborative
academic library environment;

• Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills;

• Proficiency in written and/or oral French is desirable
