Folks: For our report this afternoon on the status of the Wikipedia Digital Preservation article progress, please take a look at / have available the article outline that we have posted at: http://tinyurl.com/9zk95ko https://docs.google.com/a/apps.cul.columbia.edu/document/d/1zHAQN_S3ib_JntlXu1gljN4oLU002b3wdocFjCXHsvI/edit This is the outline our group originally came up with and approved as a starting point for revising the article. We have marked it up to show sections we consider completed and those theoretically still to come. One question we'd like to pose is: how much to prioritize improving the article as a whole as opposed to focusing more narrowly on improving the section on digital preservation best practices (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_preservation#Digital_preservation_best_practices), which is a stub which we had said we would start populating with linkages to actual external documentation of existing standards and best practices. The audio preservation section is one example of what these individual media / format-themed sections might look like. We should also discuss whether and how to get others involved in the project. /Stephen -- Stephen Paul Davis, Director Digital Program Division Columbia University Libraries [log in to unmask] - (212) 854-8584 ############################ To unsubscribe from the NDSA-STANDARDS list: write to: mailto:[log in to unmask] or click the following link: http://list.digitalpreservation.gov/scripts/wa-DIGITAL.exe?SUBED1=NDSA-STANDARDS&A=1
