Major/Essential Duties of Job:

Supports access to electronic resources through a variety of activities.
Provides new and updated records needed to track and manage these resources in
the library management system (Voyager). Assists with the set-up and
maintenance of online resources in the databases that feed the discovery tools
(SFX, Primo and EZ-Proxy, LibGuides, other webpages). Assists with the
management of licensing and usage data for online resources through the CORAL
system or other specialized software. Provides bibliographic records for
electronic resources using the most appropriate meta-data for the particular
resource. Catalogs and updates existing records for material in all formats
with cataloging copy. Performs authority, bibliographic and holdings record
maintenance. Assists with the promotion and marketing of new resources.
Assists with the management of usage data and the annual serials renewal
process to ensure proper activation/deactivation, correct access links, and
accurate publisher and coverage details. Supports other print serials
activities as needed. Supports digitization initiatives through a variety of
activities. Assists in the daily operations management of digitization
projects, provides quality control review and provides appropriate meta-data.
Provides bibliographic records for print resources as needed. Enhances
bibliographic records through the addition of table of contents notes. Assists
with collection maintenance activities. Prepares materials and their
associated records for shipment to off-site storage. Performs the withdrawal
and discard of materials. Supports veterinary exchange activities as needed.
Supports acquisitions records activities as needed. Assists with the
management and monitoring of acquisitions pilot projects as needed. Assists
with monitoring of the patron-driven acquisition (PDA) plan for potential
purchases or problems. Assists or performs pre-order search for bibliographic
data as necessary for materials to be ordered. Assists or performs acquisition
records maintenance activities including ordering, purchase orders, and
invoices for collection materials. Other duties as required.

  
Occasional Duties:

Communicates with vendors and publishers to resolve problems or obtain needed
information. Answers library staff and client questions. Actively shares in
the responsibility for maintaining and developing job related skills.
Participates in appropriate RMS and library-wide planning. Provides input or
advice on goals, priorities and projects. Participates in the development,
review and revision of relevant policies and procedures. Participates in team
projects or other special assignments to contribute to unit and library
priorities as needed. Performs other duties as assigned.

  
Required Education and Experience:

High school graduation or any equivalent combination of training and
experience and two (2) years library experience OR 1 year as a Library
Specialist I. Thirty or more hours of higher education credits may substitute
for a year of library experience. A Bachelor or higher degree in Library
Science may substitute for four years of library experience. General knowledge
of library services and functions. Good interpersonal skills. These duties
require the ability to work at computer, view monitor, keyboard data, process
materials, retrieve materials from shelves including above shoulder height and
close to floor, push/pull truck of materials, answer phone, talk with staff,
make eye contact with staff, carry light collection materials, stand on stool,
climb stairs. Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

  
Preferred Education and Experience:

Experience in an academic health sciences library. Experience with web-
publishing and promotional efforts. Experience with digitization projects.
Attention to detail. Accuracy. Flexibility. Problem solving skills. Knowledge
of digitization techniques. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to understand and interpret complex library records. Ability to
competently manage workload within established standards for turnaround time.
Ability to multi-task. Ability to cooperate with other library employees.
Effective as a team member, willingly assists and supports co-workers.
