circa £28,000 per annum 12 month fixed-term contract A vacancy has arisen with the National Clinical Guideline Centre (NCGC) for an information scientist. Based in the NCGC's offices as a member of the Centre's information science team the role involves working closely with the Centre's guideline technical teams and liaising with the RCP Library. The main duties include literature searching for clinical guidelines, managing references in reference management software, ordering references and maintaining clear audit trails. Education to degree level is essential as are good IT skills and some experience of searching electronic bibliographic databases such as Embase, Medline and The Cochrane Library. Equally important to working to a high level of attention to detail are strong inter-personal skills and the ability to interact professionally at all times within the Centre and with NHS healthcare professionals. A relevant postgraduate qualification in library or information science is essential, although candidates studying for such a course with relevant experience will also be considered. Please be aware this is not a library-based role. Training for all aspects of the job will be provided. The position is fixed term for 12 months.
