The Digital Repository Coordinator supports operation of the KAUST Digital
Archive, the university's repository of research outputs. The primary
responsibilities of the position are depositing or assisting users with
deposit of works into the repository, creating metadata for deposited items,
ensuring the accuracy and consistency of metadata and the
completeness/functionality of deposited items, determining copyright status of
deposited items, assisting users of the repository, and promoting its use
through meetings with KAUST researchers and marketing campaigns. In addition,
s/he assists as needed in other areas of library operation.

  
Major Responsibilities

  
Deposit or assist users with deposit of works into the repository and create
accurate, high-quality descriptive metadata in compliance with standards.

Create new collections and workflows using the repository system.

Review for accuracy, completeness, spelling, consistency, and compliance with
standards the metadata input by others and make corrections as necessary.

Ensure compliance of deposited works with publisher copyright policies by
consulting appropriate policy resources.

Make site visits to university researchers to introduce the repository or
explain its use.

Support users via email, telephone, and in person.

Write system documentation.

Prepare reports on system use, quality control, and user support efforts.

In collaboration with the library's events/outreach team, develop and
coordinate exhibits, campus programs, and publications that promote the
repository.

Technical Skills

  
Working knowledge of descriptive metadata standards.

Experience with a major repository software platform (such as DSpace).

Knowledge of copyright and permissions issues relating to digital
repositories.

Experience in an academic or research library.

Experience working with faculty, researchers, graduate students, and vendors.

Proficiency with MS Office suite.

Non-Technical Skills or Attributes

  
Strong command of written English, including copyediting skills and excellent
spelling.

Demonstrated ability to write clear, concise, courteous e-mails in English
explaining complex information.

Customer service skills including experience interacting with a diverse
population.

Reliable and dependable in attendance and completing assignments.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Able to work independently and as part of a team to produce results, solve
problems, initiate ideas, and complete projects on schedule.

Able to consistently follow instructions and procedures.

Able and flexible to work a variety of operational areas and a variety of
hours.

Required Education

Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Library or
related field.

  
Required Experience

  
3 years professional experience in a library, archive, database publisher,
library vendor, or similar information-related environment.

Experience providing technical support to clients or users.
