The Washington University Libraries in St. Louis are seeking a service- oriented, highly motivated, and energetic individual to serve as Copyright and Digital Access Librarian. This Librarian contributes to the development, implementation and delivery of all digital projects, primarily in the broad areas of XML document modeling, imaging and oversight for assigned projects. Maintains a special focus on areas intersecting with legal content and issues, and scholarly communications where it intersects with digital collections and services. Monitors digital library encoding and imaging standards, delivery methods, and ensures compliance. Prepares and maintains information regarding copyright for library and university web documents, blogs, etc.; identifies training needs and delivers or arranges instruction about copyright issues for the library. Plans, designs, and delivers copyright information and education to library staff. Supports library staff with work-related copyright concerns. Works closely with the Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor and General Counsel (OGC) and other copyright education and management personnel in libraries on campus. QUALIICATIONS REQUIRED: JD, or MLS plus significant legal knowledge and experience; Experience with web technologies and standards such as HTML, XHTML or Dublin Core; Knowledge of XML and at least one application such as TEI, EAD, or METS; Experience with digital imaging equipment and software. PREFERRED: Experience with copyright issues in scholarly publishing, digitization and digital preservation projects, reserves, ILL, and higher education; Experience with digital asset creation in a library, museum, or academic setting, or relevant commercial environment; Knowledge of digital library technologies, standards, and major digital library delivery systems for digital assets, such as eXist, XTF, DLXS, or LUNA Insight; advanced XML and XSL; Knowledge of UNIX / Linux and Windows operating systems; Supervisory experience; experience in a higher education setting.
