Under the general direction of the Associate Librarian for Technical Services,
the Librarian for Digital Resources works independently and uses professional
judgment to oversee the lifecycle of all Law Library electronic resource
purchases and subscriptions, from trials to payments, including renewals and
cancellations. Works closely with colleagues and contractors to design,
develop and maintain a unified research tool incorporating print, licensed,
and locally developed content for the Law Library's researchers. Troubleshoots
advanced problem reports. Liaises with Law Library departments and committees
regarding electronic resources management and represents the Law Library on
University Library committees related to electronic resources.

  
Required Education & Experience:

Master's degree in Library Science from an American Library Association
accredited Library school. In selected instances, a post-graduate degree in a
related discipline may be required or substituted for an MLS. Appointment to
this rank is limited to two years at which time it is expected that the
individual will develop necessary requirements to meet expectations of
performance at the Librarian 2 level.

  
Required Skills and Abilities:

  
Appointment to the rank of Librarian 2 requires a minimum of two years of
professional experience; Appointment to the rank of Librarian 3 requires at
least five years of professional experience; and demonstrated professional
accomplishments appropriate to the rank.

Demonstrated ability in working with print or electronic serials control and
an electronic resource management tool. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot
e-resources access issues.

Demonstrated ability to work in an electronic publishing environment and in
handling scholarly communication issues. Familiarity with MARC and basic
understanding of authority control.

Strong computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office
applications and an integrated library system, and the ability and willingness
to learn new applications.

Excellent oral and written communication skills; demonstrated analytical and
organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in
a team environment. Ability to exercise appropriate professional judgment with
collegiality, flexibility, and accuracy and attention to detail.

Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:

  
J.D. and/or public services experience in an academic law library; two years
of experience supporting electronic resource activities.

Reading knowledge of a foreign language besides English.

Experience working with Innovative's ERM and ILS. Knowledge
of SQL; one or more programming/scripting language; Drupal
or other CMS.

Experience managing/working with contract or temp workers.
