Applications are invited for a PhD scholarship being offered by CREATe
([www.create.ac.uk](http://www.create.ac.uk)) at the University of Glasgow.
CREATe is the RCUK research centre for copyright and new business models in
the creative economy. With an ambitious programme of 40 projects delivered by
an interdisciplinary team of academics (law, economics, management, computer
science, sociology, psychology, ethnography and critical studies), CREATe is a
pioneering academic initiative designed to help the UK cultural and creative
industries thrive and become innovation leaders within the global digital
economy.

This project will provide the first in-depth study of the role that copyright
plays in shaping the behaviour of the UK's archival institutions, while also
developing policy recommendations to enable those institutions to make their
archival collections available online within a simple, straightforward, and
easily understood copyright regime.

For further details of CREATe's full research programme click here.

**Eligibility**

Home/EU and international applicants are eligible to apply, however only full-
time students are eligible. The work of CREATe is highly interdisciplinary and
therefore applications are welcomed from those with backgrounds in disciplines
including but not limited to law, economics, and cultural policy.

**The Award**

The Scholarship will run for a maximum of three years full-time commencing
September or October 2013 and will provide:

  * an annual bursary equivalent to the RCUK rate - currently £13,590 for 2012/13
  * fees at the standard Home/EU or International rate
  * a research support grant of £750 per annum
**Selection Process**

Applicants will be evaluated by a CREATe selection panel. The selection panel
will base its decision on the applicant's academic qualifications, the quality
of the Research Statement, references, and may take into account any other
factor which it considers relevant. Following a process of shortlisting which
is expected to take place at the end of April, shortlisted candidates will be
invited to attend an interview. In-person interviews are preferred, but where
this is impractical the arrangement of telephone or Skype interviews will be
considered. CREATe reserves the right to make an offer of a scholarship
subject to a research proposal being revised in such manner as it sees fit, or
to any other conditions, or to make no award.

**Further Information**

The closing date for applications is 5pm BST on Saturday 13th April.
