The University of Georgia Libraries seeks a forward-thinking, results-oriented
leader for the position of Assistant University Librarian (AUL) for Technology
Services to help refine and implement the information technology vision of the
UGA Libraries and the statewide GALILEO virtual library. The AUL serves as a
part of the senior library management team. Reporting to the University
Librarian and Associate Provost, the AUL administers and coordinates IT
support services for the University of Georgia Libraries. The AUL also
supervises the staff at the UGA Libraries who support GALILEO (Georgia’s
statewide virtual library) and GIL (the University System of Georgia’s (USG)
library management system) and coordinates their activities with the Executive
Director for Library Services of the Board of Regents (BOR), USG. The AUL
provides leadership to a staff of 19 IT professionals and one technical
librarian who work in the Systems Department’s three units: The Library
Technology Support Group, GIL Liaison and Systems Librarian, and GALILEO/GIL
Technical Support Services. These units support the UGA Libraries’ network
infrastructure, staff and public computer equipment and software, databases
and applications, web site, online catalog, EBSCO Discovery Service and UGA
scholarly repository, as well as the Digital Library of Georgia collaborative
digitization program, GALILEO, GIL and other resources. This position will
