The Iowa City Public Library seeks an Information Technology Coordinator to
manage all aspects of library

technology including online library systems, productivity systems, internet
access, website, access cable channel,

telephone and other IT hardware, software and networks. Manages all aspects of
library technology supporting

both staff and public. Participates in ongoing library management. Functional
direction is exercised over

permanent and temporary staff assigned to work in the IT department. Directly
supervises five staff. Assists in the

development of the budget and makes recommendations for purchases, capital
items or additional employees

during the annual budget process.

  
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  
Formulates long term and short term goals and objectives, develops policies
and programs and manages

technology initiatives. Prepares specific project plans and directs the work
of IT department. Interviews, selects,

trains, assigns work and evaluates work of staff. Evaluates, recommends,
monitors and approves budget for

computer, audiovisual and communications equipment, software, services and
supplies. Administers the

integrated library system (ILS). Manages library website, intranet,
connectivity to the Internet, and telephone

systems. Maintains and analyzes statistics and writes regular reports and
articles; Manages On-Call Tech support,

serving in weekend rotations.

  
MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION

  
Master's degree in library or information science from an ALA accredited
library school program is required. Three

years of experience in implementing and managing library information systems,
Internet services, networks and

websites in a library setting is required. One year supervisory experience
required. Maintenance of State of Iowa

librarian certification will be required upon hire.

  
PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and CERTIFICATION

  
Experience in a public library preferred. Experience in a lead role with
vendor assessment and coordination

preferred.
