Lafayette College seeks a GIS librarian/specialist to take a lead role in
advancing geospatial and data-driven scholarship across the disciplines (arts,
sciences, and engineering). The position will support faculty and students by
demonstrating the opportunities for geospatial thinking, developing GIS
infrastructure to enable new research, and promoting campus-wide expertise in
the analysis and visualization of data. The use of geographically referenced
information in humanities scholarship will be a particular focus of this new
position.

We seek a person who is passionate about data (geospatial and otherwise),
visualization, and the use of web technology to convey complex ideas in a
clear and creative manner. This person will be technically savvy, will enjoy
learning, using, and teaching new tools and technologies, and will feel
comfortable growing and shaping our capabilities in this evolving area. The
successful candidate will join a growing team of Lafayette librarians
committed to developing and supporting digital scholarship services for
faculty and students and contributing to a national community of practice.

Qualification: Ability to work collegially and communicate effectively; strong
teaching skills. We expect that most applicants will have relevant experience
with GIS or data visualization applications as well as an advanced degree.
Those who lack such experience should carefully explain how their background
has prepared them for work in this area.

Compensation: salary commensurate with qualification and experience; excellent
benefits, including college tuition support for children. The library
encourages and supports ongoing professional development.

For consideration, please submit a resume, cover letter addressing job
qualifications, and three professional references to: Neil McElroy, Dean of
