**The Hague, Netherlands, 25 June 2013 -**  
Are you a newly-qualified or soon-to-be-qualified librarian? Would you like to
work in an English-speaking international team? Then come and join The
European Library team, based in the National Library of the Netherlands in The
Hague.

  
We are looking for an intern to join our Digital Research Team. Your
internship will be to liaise with national and research libraries across
Europe, helping gain exposure of the rich collections they hold - not just
books, but documents, manuscripts, maps, audio-visual material etc. - in both
digital and physical form. You will ensure that the descriptions of their
collections are up-to-date, accurate and of relevance to the research and
other communities that make use of The European Library website.

  
**Profile**  
  
We are looking for someone who has qualifications in librarianship or a
closely-related subject. You must be able

  * to speak and write English to a very high standard; knowledge of other languages is useful but not obligatory,
  * to understand the nature of national and research library collections, both in physical and digital form
  * to understand the metadata standards and formats used to catalogue such collections
  * to understand how library collections may be used in research
**The European Library**  
  
The European Library is completely owned and run by the libraries of Europe.
It provides a single point of access to the collections of Europe's national
and research libraries, a vast dataset of 200 million bibliographic records
and metadata to 18 million digital objects.

  
We are the libraries aggregator for Europeana, the gateway to digital cultural
heritage of Europe's museums, libraries and archives.

**Employer**  
  
Staff of The European Library are employed by the Europeana Foundation and are
based in The Hague.

  
**Terms and conditions**  
  
The internship is available now and will be offered for an initial period of
three months, which may be renewed . A monthly internship allowance between
EUR 302 and EUR 457 is payable, depending on education level as per Collective
Labour Agreement (CLA) applicable for Institutes of Research. Travel expenses
to and from work will be reimbursed in line with the CLA.
