The Eugene McDermott Library at the University of Texas at Dallas invites
applications and nominations for a forward-thinking, service-oriented,
collaborative leader for the position of Special Formats Cataloging
Librarian. Reporting to the Head of Metadata Services, this
position will serve as the principal cataloger of tangible and electronic
Government Documents, electronic and print serials, media formats, maps, and
rare archival materials from the Special Collections
Department. The Special Formats Cataloging Librarian will
be responsible for cataloging and processing resources in special formats. The
Special Formats Cataloging Librarian will demonstrate proficiency in
processing, describing, and cataloging of all types of materials according to
national & local standards. The Special Formats Cataloging
Librarian will have a working knowledge of national and local standards in
AACR2, RDA, FRBR, LCSH and classification, and Rules for Archival Description
(RAD) practices. Familiarity with EAD, Dublin Core, MODS, METS, and MIX
preferable.

  
The Special Formats Cataloging Librarian will also act as a liaison to the
Special Collections Department to plan, develop and implement streamlined
procedures and policies based on evolving needs of library patrons. The
Special Formats Cataloging Librarian will demonstrate a commitment to personal
professional development through scholarly research and publication,
presentations, and participation in national professional associations.

  
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum qualifications: MLS
from an ALA-accredited program is required. 2 years of
experience in original and copy cataloging. Working
knowledge of new and emerging trends and practices in descriptive metadata;
experience providing excellent customer service;
demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills; and commitment
to the continuing development of personal knowledge and skills in the area of
metadata management as it applies to libraries. Preference
given to candidates with experience with ExLibris integrated library system
software and discovery services (Voyager/SFX/Primo as well as the migration to
Alma as an early adopter).

  
SALARY AND BENEFITS: Competitive salary commensurate with
education and experience for a 12-month administrative/professional
