[Apologies for cross-posting] The NDSA Geospatial Content subgroup will host a special webinar with Dr. Jerry Johnston, the Geographic Information Officer at the Department of the Interior, TODAY, June 21 at 11:00a.m. ET. Dr. Johnston will provide an overview of the Geospatial Platform, a networked service being developed by member agencies of the Federal Geographic Data Committee that provides shared and trusted geospatial data, services and applications for use by government agencies, their partners and the public. The Platform provides opportunities for increased cross-government collaboration through its emphasis on the reuse of architectural standards and technology. It provides ready access to federally maintained geospatial data, services and applications, as well as access to data from partners across State, Tribal, Regional and local governments as well as non-governmental organizations. The Platform's centralized technology architecture offers leveraging opportunities for communities interested in the stewardship of digital geospatial assets for the short, medium and long-terms. In addition to his work at DOI Dr. Johnston sits on the Federal Geographic Data Committee Steering Committee (http://www.fgdc.gov/participation/steering-committee) and is also the Vice Chair of the National Geospatial Advisory Committee (http://www.fgdc.gov/ngac/).
