Cool idea - Images in the Library of Congress Flickr pool have LCCNs - record numbers - but that kind of just takes you back to LoC's catalog - eg. This lovely hand tinted cased image of a Civil War soldier & his wife on Flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/library_of_congress/9158148335/ includes this info - Liljenquist Family collection (Library of Congress) (DLC) 2010650519 which gets you to here: http://lccn.loc.gov/2010650519 If you know to go to LoC's catalog and search there.
