Dear NDSA,

Abbie Grotke spotted these on the twittersphere yesterday. I wanted to pass them along.

You may find this article in the Yale Journal of Law and Technology, about "link rot" in Supreme Court opinions, interesting:
http://www.volokh.com/2013/07/10/rot-at-the-court/
"Of the 430 links contained in Supreme Court opinions from 1995-2010, 29% are invalid, closely following the results of earlier, related studies."

And related, the 2013 analysis on link rot and legal resources on the web from the Chesapeake Digital Preservation Group has been published:
http://cdm16064.contentdm.oclc.org/ui/custom/default/collection/default/resources/custompages/reportsandpublications/2013LinkRotReport.pdf
"In 2013, 256 out of 579 URLs in the sample no longer provide access to the
content that was originally selected, captured, and archived by the Chesapeake
Group. In other words, link rot has increased to 44.2 percent within six years."

All best,

Michelle
