The Digital Archivist works in the Academy Film Archive under the supervision
of the Digital Curator. Primary duties include assisting
Digital Curator with inspection, inventory and cataloging of digital
collection items and prepping materials for ingest to the digital repository.

  
Duties and Responsibilities:

  
Content audits of new acquisition of born digital collections

Inventory and cataloging of born digital and digitized collections using the
Archive's collection management system, MAVIS

Coordinate vault pulls, prepare inventories and assist as needed in
documentation and preparation of materials scheduled for digitization

Assist with preservation file ingests and asset management using software
tools provided by USC Digital Repository

Assist with documenting policies, procedures and workflows for managing
digital collections and communicating policies to staff within the Film
Archive

Assist with metadata modeling and beta-testing systems as needed

Assist with handling requests for information from other AMPAS departments and
outside donors and depositors

  
Qualifications and Requirements:

  
Degree in moving image studies or equivalent preferred.

Solid knowledge of motion picture and video history and technology; and
principles of archival collection management and preservation

Familiarity with audio, video and digital file formats

Familiarity with metadata standards, types of metadata and prior cataloging
experience preferred

Skill in reading and composing correspondence and reports in English.

Must be extremely detail-oriented and have experience with standard computer
word processing and database software

Experience using MAVIS preferred

Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with
Academy staff, donors, vendors of outside services, Academy members, industry
professionals, and visitors
