Discovery User Experience Librarian (Indiana University, Indiana)

Discovery User Experience Librarian plays essential role in ensuring effective
functioning of Indiana University's discovery interfaces through focusing on
user experience. Responsibilities: Support discovery of
library resources through online catalog and other discovery interfaces:
collaborating closely with library and UITS staff as appropriate, assist with
maintenance and management of library catalog discovery interface, oversee
management of OneSearch@IU, the Bloomington libraries' web scale discovery
interface; maintain awareness of enhancements and changes to interfaces and
configurations of systems; work across library departments to plan,
coordinate, facilitate, accomplish projects that improve and enhance discovery
services. Support discovery of information through library
web site and other appropriate venues: collaborate closely
with library and UITS (University Information Technology Services) staff as
appropriate, assist with maintenance and management of library
website; maintain awareness of enhancements and changes to
interfaces and configurations of systems; take leadership role in building
tighter integration between library web site and its resources, aligning with
broader context of Libraries' discovery strategy; plan, lead, oversee projects
that support this goal; serve as liaison between programmers, internal
customers, and end-users, working with programmers to solve problems and
resolve "bugs", as well as communicate with library staff about fixes and
workarounds; maintains connections with users of library website and library
public services staff by providing reference services to all levels of library
users and serving as supervising librarian, if scheduled, on evenings and
weekends. Qualifications: Required: ALA accredited MLS; two
years' experience working in academic libraries; strong experience working
with and assisting library users in finding information (preferably both face-
to-face and remotely) in academic library setting required; basic knowledge of
MARC; experience with one or more Library enterprise
systems such as library management systems (Symphony, Aleph, Endeavor),
discovery interfaces (Ebsco Discovery Services, Summon, Primo), search
technologies (Solr, Elasticsearch), course management software (Sakai, Canvas,
BlackBoard); strong customer service attitude as well as a
positive, proactive approach to problem-solving. Salary and
