The Open Planets Foundation is inviting applications for the position of
Executive Director. The successful candidate will ideally be in post from

28th October and 29th October. (the OPF cannot provide travel expenses for

**Job purpose**

  * To lead, manage and develop the OPF and build an international community of practitioners working in in the field of digital preservation.
  * To develop and enhance the membership of the OPF and ensure that member organisations benefit from their association with the organisation
  * To promote and advocate open digital preservation solutions and services
  * To provide leadership and management of OPF staff and to run the organisation responsibly andaccountably
**Job summary**  
The post-holder will need to engage with the digital preservation community
and build trust to

positionthe OPF as an international community leader in the
provision of technical advice and guidance fordigital
preservation. It will require an understanding of other organisations that are
operating in thisspace and a facility to work with those
organisations to position the OPF correctly. It
thereforerequires some level of comfort with technical
issues but also an ability to work politically,
strategicallyand tactically.

  
The post-holder will also need to work closely with the OPF Board to provide
strategic leadership ofthe OPF and advise the Board on the
development and implementation of the OPF's strategic

agenda. He/she will have an influential role, both nationally and
internationally in raising awareness ofthe OPF, building
and maintaining key relationships that will help to further the OPF's work,
andmanaging and developing services to maintain its
position as a leading player in digital preservation.

  
The post-holder will be pivotal in communications with member institutions and
will be the primaryconduit between the Board and the
membership. The Executive Director will be expected to
takeprimary ownership of how satisfied the wider membership
is with the direction of travel of theorganisation and
provide the Board with regular updates and recommendations for refreshing
andrenewing the value of the organisation. The post-holder
will therefore be responsible for the upkeepand delivery of
the OPF's b
