Project Manager (2 Positions) Harvard University Cambridge, MA The HLS library is moving toward a dynamic and collaborative relationship with the Berkman Center for Internet & Society with the announcement of two new project manager positions. The recently posted Academic Technology (AT) Project Manager will be based in the Teaching, Learning and Curriculum team at the HLS library and coordinate and promote new technologies and digital solutions for legal classrooms. The AT Project Manager will take part in Berkman Center "geek hours," learn the latest project management practices and tools, participate in brainstorming sessions and give feedback for Berkman developers working to create a new generation of academic digital tools. "Creating this position with the library and in close collaboration with the Berkman Center allows us to move from ideas to execution and back again in a virtuous feedback loop special to HLS. It gives us opportunities for breakthrough innovation," said Professor Jonathan Zittrain. The new AT project manager will be responsible in part for H2O. H2O is transforming educational materials by catalyzing a suite of open source, online classroom tools that allows professors to freely develop, remix, and share elements of online textbooks, casebooks, and modules under a Creative Commons Attribution Noncommercial, Share Alike License. Originally conceived and created by Lawrence Lessig, Zittrain and the Berkman Center and currently managed by the TLC group, H2O is being used by twelve HLS and outside law faculty this fall, and will be rolled out to an estimated ten courses this spring. Some HLS faculty users of H2O include: Lessig, Contracts, Constitutional Law; Joe Singer, Conflict of Laws; Zittrain, Torts; Holger Spamann, Corporations. Some outside law faculty include: Pam Karlan, Torts at Stanford; Sean J. Griffith, Mergers and Acquisitions at Fordham; Brian Quinn, Corporations at BC Law, and Greg Kalscheur, Church and State at BC Law. In addition to working with faculty and developers on H2O, the AT project manager will research other digital tools for the classroom and help HLS faculty learn, assess, and integrate them into their courses and teaching methods. About TLC: The Teaching, Learning and Curriculum Solutions team at the HLS library has three primary functions: to provide impeccable front-line customer service to our clients, the faculty and teaching staff at Harvard Law School; to operate as the primary conduit for academic technology issues and information between the Harvard University Academic Technology Group and HLS; and to consult with and support HLS faculty and teaching staff in pursuing excellence and innovation in the legal classroom.
