Special Collections and Archives Librarian
Lewis & Clark College
Portland

Reporting to the College Archivist/Head of Special Collections, the Special
Collections and Archives Librarian is responsible for supporting students and
scholars in their use of special collections/archival materials, and, as a
member of the Research Services Team, providing library liaison services,
including collection development, instruction, research consultations,
reference and related services to a number of academic departments as well as
individual students and faculty.

Minimum Qualifications:

  * Master's Degree in Library/Information Science
  * At least one year of work experience in a library or archival setting
  * Familiarity with information literacy instruction techniques and practices
  * Familiarity with academic library reference and collection development
  * Excellent interpersonal communication
  * Knowledge of library and archival practices, including accessioning, arrangement, and description
  * Ability to work and communicate effectively orally and in writing with Library staff, the College community, other Library users, and external constituents
  * Knowledge of digitization techniques, digital preservation, and digital standards
  * Strong service orientation
  * Ability to work as part of a team
  * Commitment to professional growth and development
Preferred Qualifications:

  * Background in history and literature with a record of academic and scholarly writing
  * Familiarity with the following cataloging standards: Describing Archives: A Content Standard (DACS), Encoded Archival Description (EAD), MARC, and Anglo American Cataloging Rules (AACR2)
  * Experience with delivering information literacy instruction, collection development, and providing reference and research support in an academic library
  * Experience working in an archival and special collections setting
