**This position is located in Library Services and Content Management (LSCM), Projects and Systems, Washington, DC  
  
This selectee will work shift 1 and have a tour of duty of 8:30 am - 5:00 pm**

• Lead a team of IT professionals developing and managing LSCM technology-
based systems and services, including the Integrated Library System, web
services, and other information technology systems and services that support
LSCM programs

  
• Recruit, interview and hire new Federal staff, and manage, supervise and
evaluate staff reporting to this position. Write job descriptions, performance
plans, and other required personnel documentation. Recommend and develop
methods to recognize employee performance and contributions.

  
• Assist in selecting contracts to develop, enhance and support IT-based
systems in the LSCM Systems unit, and manage those technology-based contracts.
Oversee the execution of contract deliverables, and evaluate work to ensure
all work delivered is accurate and on time.

  
• Prepare and deliver presentations to GPO upper management, library
professional associations and library constituent groups on topics related to
unit activites

  
• Keep up to date with state-of-the-art practices and opportunities in
information technology to best serve the FDLP library community.

•Knowledge of the technology, theories, principles and techniques of library
and information science to effectively manage projects and the day-to-day
operations of the Systems unit.

•Knowledge of library automation systems and the appropriate technology
infrastructure to support and sustain a reliable service model.

•Ability to effectively communication orally.

•Ability to effectively communicate in writing.

•Ability to supervise subordinate staff responsible for the development and
maintenance of an ILS, as well as Web-based applications and services.
