Greetings all,

The next NDSA Outreach Working Group call will feature a presentation from Bailey Smith and Anne Wootton of the Pop Up Archive (https://www.popuparchive.org/).

Date: Monday February 10, 2014
Time: 3:00 p.m. ET
WebEx Details below.

Developed with the Public Radio Exchange (PRX) through support from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation and the National Endowment for the Humanities, Pop Up Archive is a workspace and audio search tool for journalists, archivists and the institutions supporting them.

The mission of the Pop Up Archive is to inspire the next generation of media by giving a new voice to audio on the web. Cofounders Bailey Smith and Anne Wootton's first challenge was thirty years of unsearchable audio from San Francisco producers The Kitchen Sisters. The result: simple tools that organize sound through automatic transcription, tagging, and search indexing.

Pop Up Archive has been savvy about utilizing technology and the web to demonstrate their value and to advocate for the role of archives and libraries in the information ecosystem and Smith and Wootton will share examples of their work.

This presentation is part of the NDSA Outreach Working Group speaker series, regular presentations that highlight innovative approaches to digital stewardship communication and outreach that will assist NDSA members in preparing and sharing digital preservation information resources and the value of digital stewardship.
