The State University of New York at Geneseo, Milne Library, invites 
applications for a Creative Technologist working for the Information 
Delivery Services (IDS) Project. The IDS Project is a resource-sharing 
cooperative within New York State whose members include public and 
private academic libraries, the New York Public Library, and the New 
York State Library. The major goal of the project is to implement and 
evaluate innovative resource-sharing strategies, policies and procedures 
that will optimize mutual access to the information resources of all IDS 
Project libraries. For more information please visit

Under the direction of the Executive Director of the IDS Project, the 
Creative Technologist is responsible for developing new software (using 
Visual Basic, .NET Framework, Lua, HTML5, Javascript, CSS3, and SQL) and 
maintaining current systems (ALIAS, GIST, IDS Search, IDS Logic, IDS 
Press, and ILLiad addons) to support the mission of the IDS Project.

The Creative Technologist is a key position for the development and 
management of IDS Project products and services. This individual will 
conduct research and analyze the usage and effectiveness of various IDS 
services, including library resource sharing strategies, search engine 
and web site development, commercial carrier delivery to libraries 
throughout NYS, and will supervise student employees and projects, such 
as marketing the IDS Project.

This position provides logistical support and management for the IDS 
Project Press, library publishing and open access projects, supporting 
regional user group meetings, as well as planning and implementation of 
the IDS Project Online Learning Institute. The Creative Technologist is 
also a member of Milne's publishing team and will build shared open 
access publishing services that utilize digital library systems and 
publishing platforms. This individual will work collaboratively with 
others to plan, develop and implement systems that meet the requirements 
of the IDS Project initiatives; provide technical support to the IDS 
Project user groups, mentors and technology development team.

Required Qualifications:
- Masters of Library Science; or Bachelors & 2 years experience in 
Library IT
- Minimum of two years of experience in web development, graphics design 
& programming
- In-depth knowledge & experience in web design & creation, including 
demonstrable abilities with HTML5, CSS3, XML/XSLT, Visual Basic/ASP.NET 
& Javascript
- Strong commitment to customer service
- Excellent interpersonal, oral & written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with MS SQL & other databases
- Project management
- Lua & ILLiad addon development
- Human-Computer Interaction & usability testing
- Work with software development teams & development cycles
- Demonstrated willingness & ability to collaborate & share expertise
