Scholarly Communications Librarian

Assistant professor; tenure track, full faculty status, rank and
responsibilities; permanent 12-month appointment.

  
RESPONSIBILITIES

The University of Idaho Library invites applications from innovative and
service-oriented individuals for the position of Scholarly Communications
Librarian. This position will serve as point of contact for scholarly
publication at the university, with particular focus on academic library
copyright issues, open access, and author rights. Working closely and
collaboratively with library and university employees, the Scholarly
Communications Librarian will manage the university's institutional
repository, support open access publications, ensure compliance with federal
mandates, and promote scholarly and professional achievements.

  
QUALIFICATIONS

Required: Master's degree from an ALA-accredited library program; demonstrated
ability to plan, coordinate, and implement effective programs; experience with
applications used in organizing and presenting digital
information; excellent organizational skills and a
demonstrated ability to handle complex analytical and detailed work; excellent
oral and written communications skills; ability to interact effectively with
audiences of diverse technological backgrounds; ability to work independently
and collaboratively in a rapidly changing environment; and engage in research
and scholarship required for academic rank and tenure requirements.

  
Must: Applicants who are selected as final possible
candidates must be able to pass a criminal background
check.*

  
Desired: Experience working in an academic library, two or more years of
professional library experience, working knowledge of institutional
repositories, standards, copyrights, and applicable intellectual property
policies; and demonstrated ability to lead workshops and classes.

learning, enthusiastically contribute to the university's research and
teaching programs, explore emerging technologies as potential library
applications, and be committed to the ideals of faculty service.

  
SALARY AND BENEFITS: Appointment will be at the Assistant Professor rank; the
salary is listed at $48,000 - $50,000 plus full fringe benefits. For complete
