Software Development Lead 
ProQuest

A Software Development Lead is responsible for all phases
of a software project, from requirements through
verification. This position has management responsibility
leading people in projects. Functionally, the software
development lead reviews requirements and provide meaningful feedback, writes
high level and detailed task specifications, supports implementation and
acceptance testing.

  
Some of what you'll be doing:

• Interacts with the business on a day-to-day basis by gathering and
organizing requirements, providing status, and ensuring that the business is
informed and satisfied with the end product

• Leads development team by managing the project team, running stand-up
meetings, and planning

• Gives direction to the project team on a daily basis by communicating
requirements and design, resolves product issues, and escalates issues that
he/she cannot resolve

• Oversees testing procedures

• Executes on multiple projects at one time, balancing numerous needs, yet
still delivering on time

• Provides training to other team members

• Keeps informed of, proposes and evaluates new hardware / software for
company use

• Identifies specific resources (internal and external) that are required for
successful project completion

  
What you'll have experience doing:

• Bachelors' degree or higher in Computer Engineering or Computer Science or
equivalent experience

• 8+ years of software development experience

• Experience supervising or managing a team

• Experience designing and supporting complex, scalable, high uptime systems

• Masterful understanding and application of Java

• Masterful understanding of XML

• Experience working with relational databases such as Oracle and MySQL

• Ability to work with source control systems

• Ability to work in both agile and waterfall environments

• Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to professionally interact with a
diverse blend of personalities to reach resolution and maintain strong
relationships

• Excellent researching and problem solving skills, including the ability to
analyze, evaluate, and determine solutions to business problems

• Ability to work on multiple projects at the same time

• Effective execution working in a distributed team model, including
successful consensus-building and managing complex interdependencies

• Ability to act as a mentor

• Ability to support systems after hours or on weekends

  
Bonus Points!

• Master's Degree (or higher) in Computer Engineering or Computer Science

• Experience with PL/SQL development

• Experience with Unx/Linux and shell scripts

• Experience with Perl

• Experience with large scale Content Management systems

• Experience with NOSQL databases such as MongoDB and Dynamo

• Experience with Oracle Application Express

• Experience with Oracle Application Developer Framework

• Experience with public cloud services such as AWS

• Experience with RESTlet or other RESTful frameworks

• Experience with Grails or other web application frameworks

• Knowledge of ProQuest product lines or equivalent experience (5+ yrs)
