We are excited to announce a new opportunity for E-Science Institute (ESI) alumni: the E-Research Peer Network and Mentoring Group<http://www.diglib.org/learning/erpnmg/>, sponsored by the Council on Library and Information Resources (CLIR) and the Digital Library Federation (DLF).

The E-Research Peer Network and Mentoring Group will focus on developing a network of practitioners through the process of sharing information on implementing strategic agendas developed at ESI as well as focus on participants directed learning and shared skill development. A select group of consultants will work with participants to assess each institution’s strategic agenda and identify next steps about planning and implementing research data management services.

The goal of the E-Research Peer Network and Mentoring Group is to foster a practitioner network through the process of sharing information about the implementation of the agendas, participant directed learning, and shared skill development, via a series of webinars, informal online gatherings, and an in-person half-day conference.

Webinars will focus on participants’ topics of interest as well as common challenges identified by the group. Interspersed between structured webinars will be virtual meetings for sharing progress and conversations. Participants will also have the opportunity to build from their initial ESI strategic agenda receiving, personalized consultation with a faculty member and a CLIR/DLF Data Curation postdoctoral fellow. Teams will have the opportunity to work together on ways to integrate research data management into each institution’s services.

The course will culminate with an in-person meeting on October 26, 2014, where peer groups will have the opportunity to connect, network, and collaborate.

Participants will be encouraged to continue engagement with the community during the course and to maintain regular meetings and contact after the course ends. CLIR/DLF will support the community of practice that emerges as a result of the networking group.
